12 PhD and 2 postdoc positions in all fields related to lipid research.

SNAL project combines computer simulations, chemical synthesis, clinical and industrial expertise, physical and biological experiments to design and test completely new synthetic nano-objects that mimic the essential properties of membrane interacting biopolymers. The full cycle of the design process, from theoretical models to synthesis and experimental and clinical validation, is of particular importance for training of Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) and their future career development.

The complementarity of skills and the envisaged secondments of recruited ESRs will allow the sharing of knowledge and the exchange of techniques and methods. One of the scientific objectives of the project is thus acquisition of new methods from other partners driven by mobility of ESRs. The rotation of ESRs between the partners will bring them to learn complementary techniques and methods which will broaden their capabilities and enhance their career development.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the requirements of EU Marie Curie fellowships/ studentships. Researchers must not have carried out their main activities in the country where they will perform their studies for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the start of the fellowship. A researcher can only be employed in the country of his/her own nationality if he/she has spent more than four of the five years prior to his/her appointment in a non-EU country, or if he/she has been active in an international organisation.

Early Stage Researchers must hold a degree (e.g. Master of Science or an equivalent diploma) which qualifies them to embark onto a doctoral degree.

Experienced Researchers must hold a PhD or have at least four years of research experience (full-time equivalent) since gaining a university qualification.

Salary and benefits

Researchers employed by SNAL will receive salary and benefits at the rates stipulated by the European Commission for Marie Curie researchers. The Researchers will be employed via full employment contracts with the respective institutions, carrying social benefits such as pension and social security, but also subject to normal taxes. Their income will consist of:

  • a living allowance and mobility allowance
  • yearly travel allowance
  • a career development allowance
